WHAT IS THE QUANTITY OF PAINT CALCULATION FORMULA

The quantity of Paint calculation formula for a wall is straightforward in quantity surveying. Today in this article, we are going to discuss this calculation. For paint quantity calculation, we mainly use thumb rules, and in this example, we are using it so.

Let’s solve this example which helps to understand well the calculation of paint.

Paint Calculation Formula

EXAMPLE:

Let’s consider or supposed that we have a wall with a length of 10 feet and a Width of 20 feet, and there is no door and window in the wall. Then, calculate the quantity of paint going to use in the drywall (Old wall) and the wet wall (New wall) and calculate the price of the colour if 1 gallon of paint = 1000/-Rs.

Paint Calculation Formula
PAINT CALCULATION FORMULA

Given Data:

Length of the wall = 10 Feet.

The width of the wall = is 20 Feet.

Condition = Calculate the paint quantity for the Wet wall and Drywall also.

Solution:

First, we have to calculate the wall area, then calculate the quantity of the paint for the wet wall (old wall), and then Drywall (New wall) will use under the given data of the wall.

Area = Length x Width

Area of the wall = 10 feet x 20 feet = 200 Square feet..

So the area of the wall is 200 square feet. Know we calculate the paint quantity in both types of walls Wet walls as well as Drywalls. For further calculation, note these points

We have two types of gallons, one called.

One Uk Gallon = 4.54609 Litters (Also called imperial Gallon)

One U.S Gallon = 3.785 Litters

And in this example, we are using U.S gallons.

Wet Wall Paint Quantity:

For wet wall means old wall we consider that the 1-gallon paint can cover up to 350 square feet Area (This ratio is not fixed, but we take it as a thumb rule for calculation).

Paint Quantity = Area of wall / Paint Covered Area

= 200 / 350

Paint = 0.5714 gallons = 2.163 litters.

Price of the paint = gallons x paint price

= 0.5714 x 1000

Price = 572/- Rs.

Dry Wall Paint Quantity:

For Drywall, paint calculation means old wall we consider that the 1-gallon paint can cover up to 200 Areas (Again, this ratio was not fixed, but we take it as a thumb rule for calculation).

Paint Quantity = Area of wall / Paint Covered Area

= 200 / 200

Paint = 1 gallons = 3.785 litters.

Price of the paint = gallons x paint price

= 1 x 1000

Price = 1,000/- Rs.

So in this way, we can calculate the quantity of paint we are going to use on the wall.

Note: This calculation is not applicable for Enamel paint quantity calculation.
